Why this blog

When Steve Jobs, at the iPad launch keynote said: “We’ve always tried to be at the crossroad of technology and liberal arts, to be able to get the best of the both.” artists and creative people around the world rejoiced. I was one of them.

Why the name?
I am already writing a blog about Logic Studio the music production software suite of Apple.
There's another studio, Final Cut Studio. The name studio evoques a place of creation, but what if that place could go along with you anywhere you wanted?

Isn't calling the iPad a studio an overstatement?
No, have you seen the New Yorker's covers made with the iPhone?
Just imagine what can be done with a larger canvas.

But music, and movies?
Myriads of applications exist now on the iPhone for music creation, more will come, on a larger, more intuitive format.
What would prevent a musician to write a song using virtual instruments on this device?
On the movies side, isn't there already a Pages app ready to create and edit full-blown paper documents?
What would prevent a director or a writer from creating or editing a script or even a storyboard or browse for pictures while scouting for locations and share them with his team right from on his iPad?

What about video games?
In a video game we can find many creative aspects such as: concept, story line, animation, illustration, music, sound design, and many other aspects.
There is hardly anyone in our days questioning the fact that video games are an art form by their own merit right there, alongside movies.

Oh, that trite, little phrase; how right it proves to be right now: "the sky is the limit".

Cheers.
